Canceling the Hoboken St. Patrick’s Day Parade will not be a popular decision…but it was the RIGHT one. 

Look…no one likes drinking in excess more than me…but this day got completely out of control…and no amount of police presence could manage it.  People were vomiting all over the streets…hanging over rooftops…running into traffic…destroying residential buildings during house parties…and the list goes on.

Something bad was bound to happen…and when it did, everyone would be calling for the parade to be canceled and blaming the city government (and the police department) for not canceling it sooner. 

Personally, I’m proud of the committee for making a tough decision BEFORE it was too late.  Well done.

ps. to all the bar owners who RELY on this ONE DAY to stay in business…well, maybe you don’t deserve to be open in the first place…or maybe you need to take a fucking marketing class or, better yet, go talk to bar owners (like the folks at Onieals, One Republic, the Pour House, etc.) to learn a thing or two about putting asses-in-the-stools ALL the time….
